Comparing dry pet foods? Confused?
Try starting with the EDMI
Ignore the marketing claim of "xx% Meat" - that is misleading because it includes
anything that may have been derived from the meat source (like cooking water - otherwise referred to as gravy!)
If it just says "x% Chicken" then treat it as "fresh" and account for the 75% water content
Take the percentage of Dry Meat, Dehydrated Meat or Meat Meal and then
take 25% of the Fresh Meat value claimed (that accounts for the water content - which isn't meat!)
and add the two together to give you the EDMI - the higher the better
You could add another 1% to the EDMI to cover whatever meat is in the gravy or fat
