Algarve Dog Show, Fatacil, Lagoa, Algarve, June 1st and 2nd 2013

Every year we at Paws 4 Pets organise a fun dog show for all your doggies to be able to enjoy a fantastic day out with you and the family!

The dog show is aimed at novices and is for everyone to join in. it is open for Pedigrees and ruffty tufty mixed breeds, young and old. We have special classes for children – young handlers, either less than 8 years old or 8-16 years old and actively encourage children to participate with their dogs, not only on the day but also with the preparation of the dog before the show. There are puppy classes (dogs ages 4-9 months), veterans (over 8 years). Waggiest tail, dog and owner lookalike, best eyes, best tricks and best groomed. There are 2 classes for best male – pedigree or mixed breed and also 2 for best female– pedigree or mixed breed. As well as the BIG SIT and best recall. We also celebrate our love for Portugal with a class for Portuguese breeds and a special Portuguese Water Dog class. We have managed to get an international judge to judge the classes over the weekend.

The dog show is run as part of the International Algarve Fair and each year the Algarve Dog Show raises funds for a chosen animal charity. This years charity is the Friends of Canil de Portimão – www.friendscanilportimao.com. As well as the dog show there are trade stands for vets, pet shops, groomers, animal transportation companies, as well as representatives from animal charities. The animal charities will have an Adopt-a-pet area, where you can meet and greet with some of the animals in need of re-homing. It is a good opportunity to be able to contact all the animal charities under one roof instead of going round and visiting them all individually across the country.

If you are a company and would like to sponsor a class, then please contact us, for 35€ for one or 65€ for two you can sponsor as many as you like with funds going to the charity. The sponsorship includes a cup and rosette and additional advertising in the Portugal News and on Facebook, as well as being able to have advertising information available on the weekend and a banner on display in the ring. You can add additional prizes if you like (vouchers for various goodies). Contact juliep@paws4pets.pt.

We have additional entertainment available. Regina from the Funny Dogs Team will be putting on a show in the lunch break and Centro Canino Happy Dog Center will be doing a training demonstration. As well as there being grooming demonstrations by Woof Woof Boutique and Spa.

And as if that wasn’t enough. Cleo – first female Portuguese grand champion Portuguese water dog – will be there to talk to you all, along with her brother and sisters.

The good thing about combining the Algarve Dog Show with the International Fair is that there is so much to do to keep you entertained for the full weekend.

Bring your dog, a lead and vaccination book. You can enter as many classes as you want. Classes are 3€ each or 5 for the price of 4 (12€). Fair opens at 11am, first class starting at 11.30. Both days have the same classes so that you can come to both days or choose a convenient one for you and your family.
